About Ion Battery Recycling

We make it straightforward to get lithium-ion batteries recycled properly, from a single e-bike pack to a recurring program for a fleet or a data center.

What we do

We take your request, work out the right packaging and transport for your batteries, and arrange collection and recycling through qualified battery logistics and processing partners. You deal with one contact from quote to certificate.

Why lithium batteries need their own process

Lithium-ion batteries store a lot of energy in a small space. When they are crushed, punctured or shorted, they can overheat and ignite, which is why they are a major cause of fires in garbage trucks and recycling facilities. They are also regulated: most discarded lithium batteries are hazardous waste under federal rules, and they are Class 9 dangerous goods in transport. Getting them recycled properly means the right containers, the right labels, a carrier that accepts them, and a processor that recovers their materials.

How we write this site

The guides here are written to be useful on their own, whether or not you request a quote. State regulation summaries come from our own research against state legislatures and environmental agencies, with links to the sources. They are general information, not legal advice, and laws change. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we’ll fix it.
